FAQ's
WHAT is MOPS?
MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a place where moms of newborns through
kindergarteners can come to find encouragement, fellowship, food and fun.
METMOPS groups meet twice a month on Friday mornings.  Excellent childcare is
provided for the children while the moms meet to hear  a speaker or complete a fun
craft project.  The speaker’s topics have been thoughtfully chosen to enhance
knowledge in areas that are most important to moms.  The craft projects give you a
chance to learn a new skill and complete a project without a little person interrupting.
Each meeting includes small group discussion time where you can share ideas, reflect
on the day's topics, and get to know other moms.  Each discussion group has a mentor
mom – we call them Titus Women – who is there to encourage us, pray for us, and
inspire us to be better moms.  And, of course, there is always lots of great food and fun,
prizes and giveaways.
We are chartered through MOPS International,  a non-denominational organization
which exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-
home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles
who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes
that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child
relationship and are filled with unique needs.  MOPS helps moms through relationships
established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's
mother of young children.  For more information on MOPS International you can reach
them on the web at

"I am a little nervous about coming to MOPS by myself and not having anyone
to talk to....."
No worries.....you will already be placed into an awesome discussion group before you
walk into the door of your 1st MOPS meeting.  Your discussion group leader will have
already contacted you beforehand and someone will greet you when you arrive at
MOPS and show you where to go.  You will stay with your discussion group throughout
the MOPS meeting.

I am not a member of The MET and I am not Baptist.  Will I feel out of place?
Not at all....METMOPS has a great mix of moms from a wide range of ages,
backgrounds and parenting styles.  We always find that as moms, regardless of
whether we are older or younger, work or stay at home, Baptist or Catholic, we have a
lot in common and we benefit and grow from knowing one another.

I work outside of the home will there be other moms who work outside the
home also?
The members of our MOPS groups change from year to year.  Our MOPS groups
typically have quite a few moms who work part time, but have Friday mornings
available. We are chartered under MOPS International, which has a lot of great
resources for working moms.  The web site for MOPS International is
www.MOPS.org.

What type of craft projects do you do and what if I'm not crafty?
We do a variety of craft projects ranging from decorative "knick knacks" for your house
to practical items like tote bags.  Don't worry if you're not crafty.  You'll have fun
whether you choose to give the craft a try or if you choose to sit and talk with your
discussion group as they try their hand at it.  It's totally up to you, but you might be
surprised at the "crafty" woman just waiting inside for just the right craft to do.

What will my little ones do while I am at MOPS?
MOPS at The MET offers a program for your child to attend while you are enjoying
MOPS.  This childcare program is called MOPPETS. MOPS offers childcare for
newborns through kindergarten.  All preschool childcare is staffed by paid, trained
Christian teachers.  If you have any questions regarding childcare please contact
